The Gwinnett Stripers beat the Wilkes-Barre Barons by a score of 6-4. Gwinnett shortstop Ray Mallory deserved the lion's share of the credit. Mallory was 1-3 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2 for the Stripers. The winner in relief was Limerick Lyngstad. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 1.2 innings. He now owns a record of 2-1. Earning his 13th save of the year was Joe Wilkinson.

Mallory had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the seventh. On a 2-2 sinker from Brian Hoffman, he banged a 2-run home run to left, giving the Stripers a 6-4 lead. It was the 4th home run of the year for Mallory.

"I was making good contact tonight," said Mallory.

The Stripers saw their win-loss record go to 30-27. At the same time, the Barons fell to 32-25.
