Wizards Handle Columbus, Snag 5-3 Win
|
The Orlando Wizards defeated the Columbus Clippers, 5-3, in International League action at Huntington Park. Orlando pitcher Talman Cassidy had a standout performance. The winner was Cassidy. He threw 7.1 innings of 3-hit ball. The loser was Christian Cornelio. Jake Fagen closed out the game, earning his 13th save.
Orlando used the hitting of Jaxson Hall to pick up the win. The left fielder clubbed a 2-run home run in the top of the third inning to put the Wizards on top, 2-0. For the game, Hall had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
"This game will punch you right in the mouth," said Cassidy. "My job is to show up and give my team a chance."
Orlando, at 39-16, occupies first place in the International League Southwest Division.
