Oddballs Nip Bears, 4-3
|
In a tight contest at Ottawa Ballpark, the Ottawa Oddballs edged the Newark Bears by the score of 4-3. Ottawa catcher Rhys Pitkin, who blasted 2 home runs, was a key contributor. Ottawa reliever Carson Druckemiller was credited with the win. His record goes to 2-2. Kevin Laraway took the loss for Newark. At 27-29, the Oddballs claim 5th place in the International League Northeast Division.
The game was still up for grabs in the bottom of the ninth. With two out, Pitkin hit a fastball from Kevin Laraway for a solo home run. The Oddballs, in dramatic fashion, had a walk-off win.
"We did a lot of things right," said Pitkin.
