The Columbus Clippers had to overcome a fine effort from Charlotte pitcher Chet Clay to win, 3-2, at Hustlers Stadium. Clay went 6.2 innings and allowed 2 runs. Columbus pitcher Rogelio Corbett got the win. He's now 1-0. Jessie Mullins was tagged with the loss. Yoennis De Los Santos earned his 3rd save, after closing out the game.

Columbus needed the clutch hitting of Bryan Medeiros to seal the deal. The second baseman swatted a 2-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the Clippers on top, 3-2. For the game, Medeiros had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
