Syracuse and Toledo duked it out and the Chiefs came out victorious.

The Chiefs grabbed a win, 8-5, at Fifth Third Field, overcoming a fine effort from Toledo pitcher Scott Johnson. Johnson went 5.2 innings and allowed 1 run. Cal Justis, now 2-0, was credited with the win in 2.1 innings of relief. He allowed 1 run on 5 hits, while striking out 1 and walking 0.

Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Gustavo Islas? The Syracuse catcher had a 2-run single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Chiefs on top, 7-5. For the game, Islas had 1 double and 2 singles in 5 at-bats.

"We'll try to build on that win," Islas told the Syracuse Gazette.

Syracuse now has a record of 34-21 with the win.
