Orlando got a terrific performance from pitcher Elijah Swinehart, but it wasn't enough to beat the Rochester Norsemen. Rochester won the Orlando Grounds contest, 4-3. Swinehart threw 7.0 innings of shutout ball for the losing team. Rochester reliever Donald Van Riper picked up the win to move to 2-1. Roldan Donzelli suffered the loss. With the victory, the Norsemen upped their record to 24-23.

Rochester used the timely hitting of Eli Curlee to seize the win. The shortstop stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Norsemen on top, 4-3. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"Some of the guys in here work hard, some of the guys just kind of fall out of bed and get it done. Whatever works I guess, we won this one," Curlee told the Rochester Gazette.
