Clippers Come Back Late, Nip Red Sox
|
The skies opened up and the rain fell at McCoy Stadium.
The Columbus Clippers faced a tough opponent in Pawtucket pitcher Rob Kauffman, but did just enough to pull out the victory at McCoy Stadium by a final score of 3-2. Kauffman went 5 innings and allowed no runs. Joham Dosal, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 13th save.
Carlo Sheard broke a 2-2 tie in the top of the ninth with a run-scoring sacrifice fly. It put the Clippers in front, 3-2. For the game, Sheard drew 2 walk in 5 trips to the plate.
Sheard called the triumph "a good team win."
Today's win puts Columbus at 23-24, while Pawtucket falls to 22-25.
