Easley Stars for Clippers in 7-3 Win
|
The home crowd had a good time watching the Wilkes-Barre Barons and Columbus Clippers get after it.
Noel Easley was a major factor in the 7-3 Columbus win over Wilkes-Barre. The Clippers first baseman went 3 for 3 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. The win went to Andy Edwards in relief. His record improves to 5-2. Chris White took the loss. Tyler Thurston finished to wrap up his 4th save.
Had Marshall Schaefer not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, Schaefer hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 4-3, in favor of the Clippers.
"It doesn't matter if you're 10 games over .500 or 10 games under, it feels good to win," Schaefer told the Columbus News.
The Clippers now have a mark of 27-19.
