Stripers Shut Out Tides, 2-0
|
In a well-pitched game between the Gwinnett Stripers and the Norfolk Tides, pitcher Ashante Kearney was superb. The Gwinnett left-hander helped his team win, 2-0. The winning pitcher was Kearney, now 5-5. He tossed 7 innings of 3-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 5. Aaron Bermudez picked up the save for Gwinnett, his 1st of the year.
In the bottom of the seventh, Gwinnett left fielder Rodrigo Ortiz hit a 2-run single to center field. The clutch hit made it, 2-0, Stripers.
Kearney said the team appreciates the support from the fans. "I'm glad we could reward them with a good win," he said after the game.
The win puts Gwinnett at 19-28.
