Bears Handled by Ottawa, 3-1
|
The Ottawa Oddballs had to overcome a good performance from Newark pitcher Phillip Kunai to claim a 3-1 win at Valiants Ballpark. Kunai went 7.2 innings and allowed 3 runs. Reuben Olvera picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 8-0. Phillip Kunai was tagged with the loss. Mason McKinney got the save, the 1st for him this season.
Ottawa used the bat of Augustin Urena to get the win. The right fielder hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the fourth inning to put the Oddballs ahead, 3-1. It was his lone hit in 3 at-bats, but it did its damage.
"Every loss hurts," said Newark manager Jessie Moe. "But this was a tough one."
The win gives Ottawa a season record of 31-15.
