The Wilkes-Barre Barons bested the Orlando Wizards by a score of 7-5, with third baseman Walker Matthews getting the main credit. On the day, Matthews went 2-3 with a home run, a double, and was hit by a pitch, while scoring 2 and driving in 3 for the Barons. Wilkes-Barre raised its record to 23-20 with the win.

Matthews had a game-changing double in the bottom of the sixth. On a 1-1 slider from Lydon Yunker, he banged a run-scoring double to left, giving the Barons a 5-4 lead. It was the 6th double of the year for Matthews.

"I don't feel you win baseball games by working harder than the other team or 'wanting it more,'" Matthews told the Wilkes-Barre Citizen. "You win just by scoring more runs."
