Janey goes 4-for-5 to Power Clippers Offense
|
Jimmy Janey led Columbus to a win over Birmingham. The final score was 13-5. Janey, who leads the IL in triples with 4, collected 3 runs batted in, while going 4 for 5 at the plate. The second baseman also scored 4 times. Columbus reliever Troy Garica picked up the win, upping his record to 1-1. Roy Jetté was saddled with the loss. The 4th-place Clippers are now 24-19, the Barons 24-19.
Columbus designated hitter Colton MacNeil contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the fifth. With two down, he hit a fastball to center field for a run-scoring single. It was his 2nd hit of the season and put the Clippers ahead, 5-4.
"The boys came out and just played their butts off," said Columbus manager Joaquin Hoogerwerf.
