Barons Topple Grizzlies with Late Rally
|
The Maine Grizzlies could not turn a fine performance from pitcher Max Horton into a win. Instead, the Wilkes-Barre Barons prevailed, 4-3. Horton threw 7.0 innings of 6-hit ball. Rusty Tucker, 1-2, earned the win in relief. He allowed no runs on no hits in 1.1 innings. With the win, Wilkes-Barre upped its record to 24-18.
Wilkes-Barre used the timely hitting of Julian Marquardt to seize the win. The center fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Barons on top, 4-3. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"Coulda, shoulda, woulda," said Maine manager Kyle Ramsay. "We had our chances and didn't cash in."
