Barons Beat Bats in 11
|
The Wilkes-Barre Barons stopped the Louisville Bats, 7-3, in 11 innings at Louisville Slugger Field. The Barons got a big game from Walker Matthews, who went 2 for 4 with 2 home runs and a walk. He drove in 5 runs and scored twice. Samuel McCutcheon picked up the win in relief. Chris Buchanan took the loss for Louisville. The Barons are now 21-18, while the Bats fall to 21-18.
Wilkes-Barre took a 5-3 lead on Beyers Small's 5th double of the season. The 2-run double, which Small hit in the top of the 11th, left Louisville pitcher Brito Torrence visibly frustrated.
"Tough ballgame, tough loss," said Louisville manager Matt Mossbarger.
