Slumping Barons Lose Again
Newark got a first-rate effort from pitcher Adam Spellman, who frustrated Wilkes-Barre hitters en route to a 3-1 Bears triumph at Valiants Ballpark. The Bears have now won 4 straight.

Rick Sheley had a big run-scoring double for the Bears in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Newark leading 1-0 and a runner on 1st, he got a slider from 36-year old right-handed pitcher Jake Prendergast and swatted a double to right. It was his 4th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Bears ahead, 2-0.

"I'm just trying to make sure I'm focused for each and every pitch," said Spellman.
