The Maine Grizzlies and Syracuse Chiefs played a tight game with the hosts claiming a hard-fought win.

Maine Grizzlies starter Blair Roy was on his game, helping his team beat the Syracuse Chiefs, 3-1. Roy got the win, improving to 1-0. He gave up 5 hits and walked 1 over 7 innings. He allowed 1 run. Jon McNear picked up the save, his 3rd.

Maine took a 3-1 lead on Yordis Adames's 1st double of the season. The 2-run double, which Adames hit in the bottom of the seventh, left Syracuse pitcher Rudi Tharp visibly frustrated.

"Every loss hurts," said Syracuse manager Abe Blowers. "But this was a tough one."

Maine, at 16-21, holds down last place in the International League Northeast Division.
