Bears Nudge Past Barons, 5-4

The Newark Bears defeated the Wilkes-Barre Barons, 5-4, at Coca-Cola Park. Ethan Wykle produced 1 single and 1 double, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 1. Newark reliever Darriel Heard picked up the win, while Lou De Santiago took the loss for Wilkes-Barre. Despite the win, the Bears have a lousy 11-25 record.
Wykle had a game-changing double in the top of the eighth. On a 2-1 fastball from Lou De Santiago, he banged a run-scoring double to right-center, giving the Bears a 5-4 lead. It was the 6th double of the year for Wykle.
"Ah," said Wykle in a jubilant clubhouse, "the sweet smell of victory!."
