Clippers Get Thrilling 4-3 Win
|
The Columbus Clippers faced a tough opponent in Toledo pitcher Dylan Elkins, but still scratched out a win at Fifth Third Field by a final score of 4-3 in 12 innings. Elkins went 5.1 innings and allowed 2 runs. Columbus reliever Dicky Apreza picked up the win, while Brent Windham took the loss for Toledo. Tyler Thurston got the save, the 4th for him this season.
Columbus won the game in part because of Dylan Espino. The third baseman ripped a run-scoring double in the top of the 12th inning to put the Clippers ahead, 4-3. For the game, Espino had 1 double and 1 home run in 6 at-bats.
Espino told reporters after the game: "All's well that ends well."
After today's action, Columbus sits at 19-12, while Toledo falls to 6-25.
