Benefiting from Brantley Marletti's productive game, the Syracuse Chiefs downed the Gwinnett Stripers, 7-5. Marletti was 2-3 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 2 for the Chiefs. Sherman Cooper finished the game for Syracuse and earned his 5th save. The 7th-place Chiefs lifted their record to 13-16.
With two out in the top of the fifth, Avery McLean drilled a 3-run home run to right-center. It put Syracuse ahead, 4-3. For the game, McLean was 2 for 5 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once.
"We'll kick back tonight and enjoy this win," said Marletti.
