Barons Need Extra Frames to Get Past Clippers
|
The Wilkes-Barre Barons called upon starter Kevin Lushbaugh, and he delivered, leading his team to victory over the Columbus Clippers, 3-2. Wilkes-Barre reliever Stan Wakefield picked up the win, upping his record to 2-0. Neville Raab took the loss. Wilkes-Barre goes to 12-10.
The outcome might have been different for Wilkes-Barre, had it not been for Hernando Cardona, the 28-year old left fielder . Cardona stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the 11th inning to put Wilkes-Barre up, 3-2. For the game, he was 3 for 5, including 1 double and 2 singles.
"This kind of game is tough on the heart," said winning manager Jon Moody.
