Mud Hens Lose, 4-1; No End to Nosedive
|
Fans were not deterred by the threat of rain. They came to see their hometown Toledo Mud Hens take on the Syracuse Chiefs.
Syracuse Chiefs starter A.J. Greenberg was locked-in. He led his team to a win over the Toledo Mud Hens, 4-1. Getting the save was Dudley Simberg, his 4th.
Syracuse took a 3-0 lead on Yanus Cartageno's 2nd home run of the season. The 2-run home run, which Cartageno hit in the top of the eighth, left Toledo pitcher Todd Layne visibly frustrated.
"Everyone's trying too hard," said losing manager Tony Cerda. "If we learn to relax, we'll be fine."
The Chiefs, now 14-7, have been on a roll in the early going.
