Stripers Take Nail-Biter Over Clippers
|
Coolray Field played host to some dramatic action.
Isaiah Gauer was instrumental in his team's 6-5, extra-inning triumph over the Columbus Clippers. The designated hitter was 3 for 4 with a home run, 2 singles, and was hit by a pitch, while scoring 2 and driving in 2 for the Gwinnett Stripers. No one expected much of this team, but the hot start by Gwinnett might have some re-evaluating their pre-season predictions. This latest win lifts their record to 15-8.
The Stripers got a clutch hit from third baseman Junior McGowan. In the bottom of the tenth, he delivered a run-scoring single to win the game for the Stripers.
"It's great when the crowd is energized," Gauer said.
