Bears Shrug Off Pawtucket, 12-1
|
Newark starter Wayne Corrie kept the Pawtucket offense in check, while his team cruised to a win, 12-1. Corrie yielded 1 run over 7 innings to notch the win. He scattered 3 hits, walked 3, and struck out 3. His record improves to 4-0. The loss makes Pawtucket 5-15.
Jeremiah Hardester had a big 2-run double for the Bears in the bottom of the first inning. With Newark leading 3-1 and the bases loaded, he got a cutter from 26-year old right-handed pitcher Adrie Korving and swatted a double to center. It was his 4th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Bears ahead, 5-1.
Pawtucket manager Daniel Holcombe called the blowout loss "a real bummer."
