The Durham Bulls used the hitting of third baseman Beckett Bellantoni to subdue the Toledo Mud Hens, 8-6. For the game, Bellantoni went 2 for 3 with a double and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. Wesley Connell picked up the win, lifting his record to 1-0 on the season. He struck out 2 and walked 2 in 5.2 innings, while yielding 3 runs. Durham got a big at-bat from West Covina, California native Hank DeWitt, who in the top of the third hit a 2-run home run. It was his 2nd home run of the season and put the Bulls ahead, 8-1.

"It was offense that won us the game," said winning manager Omar Garcia.

It was the 10th win in 16 games this year for the defending champion Bulls, who are picking up where they left off.
