Dundies Edge Mud Hens, 5-4
|
The Scranton Dundies picked up a win at PNC Field, downing the Toledo Mud Hens, 5-4. On the mound for Scranton was right-hander Lucas Reppond, who played a pivotal role in the win. Reppond, now 1-2, was the winner. In 6 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 6, walking 1, and allowing 1 run. Hunter Johnson earned save number 3 this season.
Lon White dealt the Mud Hens a blow in the bottom of the sixth. Batting with a runner on 2nd and Scranton leading 4-1, White, who is tied for 10th in the IL in bases on balls with 8, hit a 2-1 sinker for a run-scoring single.
"If we keep winning the close games," White said, "we'll be in good shape at the end."
The win brings the Dundies to 8-6, a promising start as the team looks to return to the playoffs.
