Estep Clubs 2 Home Runs in 7-3 Syracuse Win
|
Led by Ethan Estep, the Syracuse Chiefs defeated the Rochester Norsemen, 7-3. Estep, a native of Redondo Beach, California, went 3 for 4 with 2 home runs and a walk for the Chiefs. The win went to Benjamin Gravel in relief, making him now 3-1. Freddie Garza took the loss for Rochester. Getting the save was Alex Abreu, his 3rd.
Syracuse first baseman Max Smallwood delivered a run-scoring double in the bottom of the first. Overall, he went 3 for 4, picking up 1 home run, 1 single, and 1 double. He scored 2 runs and knocked in 2.
"From the last whatever, five, six, seven games, there's really only one way to go and that's up," said losing manager Pierrick Gardella.
Every game is important, even these early ones, if the Chiefs hope to make a postseason run.
