Barons Shut Out Bulls, 3-0
|
The Birmingham Barons beat the Durham Bulls by a score of 3-0. Birmingham center fielder Griffin Kelley deserved the lion's share of the credit. Kelley was 2 for 4 with a home run for the Barons. Charlie Frazer picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 1-1. Pluto Benedith was tagged with the loss. Birmingham has a mark of 4-7 after the win.
The Barons got a big at-bat from second baseman Dylan Nicita. For the game, Nicita was 1 for 3 with a double and a walk. In the bottom of the first, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring double. His 4th double of the season gave Birmingham a 1-0 lead.
"Watch and learn," said Nicita. "This is what good pitching looks like."
