Gwinnett Edges Oddballs, 8-7, Le Goyet Clutch
|
The timely hitting of Richard Le Goyet helped the Gwinnett Stripers down the Ottawa Oddballs, 8-7. Le Goyet was 2 for 3 with 2 home runs and 2 walks. He scored 3 runs and drove in 3 for the Stripers. Lonnie Andersen closed it out for Gwinnett, earning his 3rd save. The win gives Gwinnett a record of 5-2.
Lorencio Guzman was 1 for 4 with a walk. He drove in 2 runs for Gwinnett. The 35-year old first baseman had a key at-bat in the top of the ninth. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 7-7 tie with a run-scoring walk off Charles Darlin. It was his 1st walk of the season.
"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," Guzman told the Gwinnett Gazette.
