The Houston Astros spoiled a good performance by Detroit right fielder A.J. Carbajal, bumping off Detroit, 6-5, at Comerica Park. Carbajal went 2 for 3 with a home run, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. Houston pitcher C.J. Cole earned the win, hiking his record to 2-0. Joe Tackett suffered the loss. With the victory, the Astros upped their record to 18-18.

Justin Ekins came through with a big-time hit for Houston. The center fielder smacked a grand slam home run in the top of the ninth inning to give his team the lead, 6-5. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.

"I like the grit of this ballclub," Ekins said.
