Brewers Handle Pirates, Nab 7-3 Win
|
The timely hitting of Lyle Lotz helped the Milwaukee Brewers down the Pittsburgh Pirates, 7-3. Lotz went 2-4 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2 for the Brewers. Sammie Ortiz got credit for the win, improving to 2-0. He allowed 1 run on 3 hits in 2.1 innings. The Brewers raised their record to 14-22.
Milwaukee used a clutch at-bat from Nathaniel Abernathy to capture the win. The designated hitter hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the third inning to put the Brewers ahead, 4-1. It was his lone hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
"Winning is hard sometimes," said Brewers manager Tyler Minchew. "This one was nice to get."
