Victory Over Dodgers Takes California to 86-50
|
California got a first-rate effort from pitcher Ralph Mayes, who frustrated Los Angeles hitters en route to a 3-1 Angels triumph at Disney Stadium. Mayes, now 10-3, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 8, walking 1, and allowing 1 run. Patrick Class got the save, the 19th for him this season.
Reed Sinclair hit a run-scoring triple off Kason Faucher in the bottom of the fourth, which put the Angels in front, 1-0. Sinclair had 1 walk, in addition to the triple. For the game, he went 1 for 3.
"Ralph is tough when he's hitting his spots," said California manager Ivan Rael.
The Angels now own a record of 86-50.
