Virginia took on Montreal in front of a lively crowd.

The Virginia Black Bears beat the Montreal Expos, 6-3, at Olympic Stadium. Jon Bryant went 1 for 4 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. The 25-year old catcher was a menace to Montreal all day. The winning pitcher was Ken Cole. He tossed 82 pitches over 5.2 innings, allowing 3 runs on 8 hits.

Bryant had a key at-bat for Virginia in the top of the second. With runners on 1st and 2nd, he hit a 3-run home run. It was his 3rd home run of the season and gave Virginia an early 3-0 lead.

"We're trying to go out there and win games," Bryant told the Virginia Gazette, "and we played pretty well tonight."
