Streaking Sailors Win Another One, 3-1
|
The Sanibel Sailors banked on Benny DuBois and he turned in a masterful performance. The right-hander kept the West Palm Beach hitters in check. The final score was 3-1, Sailors. DuBois, the winner, moves to 7-1. He threw 6.1 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 5 and giving up 3 walks. Jim Hovekamp recorded the save, his 3rd.
Sanibel used the hitting of Pedro Casillas to pick up the win. The shortstop clubbed a 2-run home run in the top of the first inning to put the Sailors on top, 2-0. For the game, Casillas had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"We'll keep playing hard and let the chips fall where they may," said Sanibel manager Dave Donnelly.
The second-place Sailors have won 6 straight.
