Hialeah starter Jake Christian put the Hollywood offense in a vise grip. The right-hander relied heavily on his slider in leading the Gales to a 2-1 win. The winner was Christian. He threw 7.1 innings allowing 1 run. The loser was Ken Caporal. Jethro Ohnemus stitched up the save, his 15th.

Gabe Nolan, who is tied for 10th in the FLA in RBI with 24, had a direct impact on the outcome. Nolan contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the third inning to put Hialeah up, 2-1.

"You don't always need a lot of runs to win," said Nolan. "Sometimes you need just one or two."

Hialeah, at 30-19, holds down third place in the Florida Rookie League Southeast Division.
