Hogs Earn 3-1 Home Win
|
Hammond Stadium was the site of a tense game between the Kissimmee Kumquats and Gainesville Hogs.
The Kissimmee Kumquats got a superb performance from pitcher T.J. Utsler, but the Gainesville Hogs still won the game, 3-1. Utsler threw 5.1 innings of shutout ball. Steve Nyumah earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 1.2 innings. He upped his record to 3-1. Max Cardona, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 1st save.
Gainesville took a 2-1 lead on T.J. Cardinas's 1st triple of the season. The 2-run triple, which Cardinas hit in the bottom of the seventh, left Kissimmee pitcher Brody Lake visibly frustrated.
"We're a talented bunch when we're playing well," said Cardinas. "I think we showed that here."
The Hogs saw their record improve to 21-24.
