Thrilling Victory Pushes Hummingbirds Win Streak to 8
|
The Scottsdale Salamanders got a superb performance from pitcher Joe Gayne, but the Sierra Vista Hummingbirds still won the game, 4-2. Gayne threw 5.0 innings of 3-hit ball. Ricky Hoyt earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on 2 hits in 3.2 innings. His record is now 4-1. Yuriy Stashko closed it out for his 16th save.
Alexander Lusk had a nice at-bat for the Hummingbirds with two out in the top of the fourth. With the bases loaded, the third baseman hit a 2-run single, which would prove important in the Sierra Vista win.
"I'm proud of the way our guys played today to come out with this win," Lusk told the Sierra Vista Times.
The 4th-place Hummingbirds lifted their record to 28-29.
