Fighting Shrimp Edge Buccaneers, 2-1
|
The Key Largo Fighting Shrimp faced a tough opponent in Boca Raton pitcher Alton Pirro, but still scratched out a win at Indians Developmental Complex by a final score of 2-1 in 14 innings. Pirro went 7 innings and allowed 1 run. Key Largo reliever Noah Sonnek was the winner. His record is now 1-0. The losing pitcher was Martin Love. Key Largo is now 27-15, Boca Raton 17-25.
Mitch Caudle came through with a big-time hit for Key Largo. The right fielder smacked a solo home run in the top of the 14th inning to give his team the lead, 2-1. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.
"The other side played a good game," said Boca Raton manager Brandon Haviland. "You tip your cap to them."
