Indians Use Late-Game Magic to Beat Mets, 5-4
|
The Cleveland Indians topped the New York Mets, 5-4, in Eastern Region action at Citi Field. The game was highlighted by the performance of Cleveland pitcher Yuvenal Brito. Cleveland pitcher Ara Lester earned the win, hiking his record to 1-0. Logan Gray suffered the loss. The save went to Nuncio Balcerzak, number 1 for him.
Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Niceto Bracamonte? The 24-year old catcher Bracamonte stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put Cleveland up, 5-4. For the game, he was 2 for 4, including 1 double and 1 single.
"The fans pay the tickets and help us do what we do, so we like to put on a show for them," Bracamonte told the Cleveland Bulletin.
The Mets, now 14-21, have lost 4 straight.
