With catcher Dandre Sandholm leading the charge, the Fort Myers Flamingos defeated the Gainesville Hogs, 16-8, at Hammond Stadium. Sandholm, who is tied for 2nd in the FLA in RBI with 23, hit 3 home runs, while adding 12 RBI and scoring three times. The win went to Wil Michell in relief. His record improves to 3-1. Buck Dwyer took the loss. The Flamingos go to 15-24, putting them 7th in the Florida Rookie League Northwest Division.

In the top of the eighth, the Flamingos grabbed the lead when Sandholm hit his 5th home run of the season. The grand slam home run off Buck Dwyer made it 12-8, Fort Myers.

Flamingos manager Benjamino Parez wasn't all too pleased, despite the win, telling reporters that the performance highlighted some clear areas for improvement moving forward. He refused to be more specific, however. "I'm not gonna publicize our weaknesses," he said. "That stuff stays in the clubhouse."
