Kumquats Stun Gales, 7-3
|
Kissimmee and Hialeah put this game in the books despite some rain.
The Kissimmee Kumquats took Hialeah pitcher Jaimes Jackson's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Space Coast Stadium. The final score had Kissimmee getting past the Gales, 7-3. Jackson went 5 innings and allowed no runs, striking out 3. Reliever R.C. Conway picked up the win. His record improves to 4-0. Vince Stapleton took the loss.
Mark Gillin came through with a big-time hit for Kissimmee. The right fielder smacked a grand slam home run in the top of the eighth inning to give his team the lead, 6-3. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.
Kissimmee manager Max Côté was pleased with the team's effort. "Our guys went out there and put good wood on the ball," he said.
Kissimmee bumps their record to 16-19 with the win.
