Threshers Continue Skid, Thanks to Gallen, Manatees
The Coral Springs Manatees beat the Clearwater Threshers, 7-3, at Ed Smith Stadium. Merl Gallen, who is tied for 2nd in the FLA in RBI with 22, starred for Coral Springs. He went 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 5 RBI and scoring once. Manuel Jiménez got credit for the save for Coral Springs. It was his 1st of the year. Coral Springs has won 4 consecutive games.

With Coral Springs trailing 3-2 in the bottom of the fifth, Gallen hit a fastball from Dave Comstock for a 3-run home run. It was his 4th home run of the season and put the Manatees ahead, 5-3.
