Roughnecks Knock Off Pride, 6-2
|
The home crowd had a good time watching the Peoria Pride and Ahwatukee Roughnecks get after it.
The Ahwatukee Roughnecks beat the Peoria Pride, 6-2. Ahwatukee pitcher and Jaibón de Pueblo Nuevo, Dominican Republic, native J.R. Toro led the way. The save went to Josh Giaquinto, number 2 for him.
The Roughnecks got a big at-bat from second baseman Lazarus Calata. For the game, Calata was 1 for 3 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the third, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 3-run home run. His 1st home run of the season gave Ahwatukee a 3-1 lead.
"It was a good win," said Ahwatukee manager Matt Hartford. "Not without blemish, but good."
With the win, Ahwatukee goes to 21-31, while the Pride fall to 33-19.
