Sailors Use Late-Game Magic to Beat Dolphins, 5-3
|
The Sailors kept their hot streak going.
West Palm Beach center fielder Scot Taylor had a terrific game, but it still wasn't enough to get his team a win. Taylor was 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2, even as Sanibel beat the Dolphins, 5-3. Negrón Gonzáles snagged the win in relief. The left-hander allowed 2 runs on 4 hits over 2.2 innings. He's now 1-0 on the season. The save went to Lee Burris, his 9th this season.
Benjamin Sanderson came through with a big-time hit for Sanibel. The pinch hitter smacked a solo home run in the top of the eighth inning to give his team the lead, 4-3. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.
"That's what makes it fun -- everybody's jacked up because of the way we've been winning," said Sanibel manager Shannon Vincek.
Sanibel, now 23-8, has won 13 straight games.
