Dolphins Defeated, 5-1, After Daytona Beach Rallies
|
The West Palm Beach Dolphins got a sterling performance from pitcher Mark Jones, but the Daytona Beach Hurricanes still prevailed, 5-1. Jones threw 6.1 innings of shutout ball. Daytona Beach reliever Ellis Gersten picked up the win. Matthew Peasley took the loss for West Palm Beach. Daytona Beach now has a record of 18-15 with the win.
The game was at a stalemate until third baseman Chet Roberts came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing West Palm Beach pitcher Henry Siebert, he hit a 1-1 fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Daytona Beach on top, 2-1.
"Being able to contribute to a win is always a great feeling," Roberts told the Daytona Beach News.
