Spoonbills Lose at Home, 6-5, to Daytona Beach
|
The Daytona Beach Hurricanes cut down the Hollywood Spoonbills by the score of 6-5, with the largest share of the credit going to catcher Pablito Jauregui. Jauregui went 3-4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 2 for the Hurricanes. Jacob Johnson got the win, improving to 1-0. He worked 5 innings, giving up 3 runs on 6 hits, while striking out 3 and walking 4. Tyrus Preston was called on to finish, recording his 1st save.
Daytona Beach used a clutch at-bat from Odon Parada to capture the win. The first baseman hammered a grand slam home run in the top of the first inning to put the Hurricanes ahead, 5-0. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
Jauregui said, "Whether you hit the ball hard, you walk, you have a long at-bat, 10 or 12 pitches, or you hit a homer, you're just trying to do anything you can do to help the team win."
The Hurricanes raised their record to 10-17.
