Clearwater Threshers starter Albert LaBrecque was in a groove as he led his team to a win over the Boca Raton Buccaneers, 4-1. Noel Avila earned the save for Clearwater, his 1st of the year. Clearwater, at 27-18, sits in second place in the Florida Rookie League Northwest Division.
Ed Oakley, the 20-year old catcher , had a direct impact on the outcome. Oakley contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the fifth inning to put Clearwater up, 3-1.
"There are times you get yourself out and there are times you come through," Oakley said. "That's how it goes."
