Behind an impressive start by Cameron Haggard, Pompano Beach beat Key Largo, 2-1. The Aqua Sox, at 7-9, sit in 7th place in the Florida Rookie League Southeast Division.
Pompano Beach used a well-timed hit by Louis Tripp to capture the win. The third baseman socked a run-scoring double in the top of the third inning to put the Aqua Sox ahead, 1-0. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.
"We needed two runs to win," said Aqua Sox manager Zane Tharp, "and that's what we got."
