The Fort Lauderdale Pirates were defeated, 4-1, by the Boca Raton Buccaneers at Indians Developmental Complex, even though Kenny Arndt pitched well for Fort Lauderdale. The win was credited to John Cannon in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Kenny Arndt took the loss. Boca Raton is 7-9 and Fort Lauderdale, with the loss, 8-8.

The Buccaneers got a big at-bat from shortstop Bryan Medeiros. For the game, Medeiros was 1-4 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the first, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 3rd home run of the season gave Boca Raton a 2-0 lead.
