Orioles Suffer 4-2 Loss to Vancouver
|
Both teams had their opportunities, but in the end, the Vancouver Cascades got the win.
Vancouver pitcher Richie Freitag did his part in helping his team defeat the Baltimore Orioles, 4-2. The opposition could never get too much going against the right-hander. In 7.1 innings, Freitag surrendered 4 hits, while striking out 5 and walking 1. He allowed 1 run. F.J. Elliott nailed down his 4th save.
Vancouver first baseman Cliff Ashcraft contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the fifth. With two down, he hit a fastball to right field for a 2-run single. It was his 27th hit of the season and put the Cascades ahead, 4-1.
"I just tried to see the ball and put a good swing on it," said Ashcraft.
With the victory, the Cascades upped their record to 17-16.
