Aqua Sox Rally to Nose Past Sanibel

The outcome was not decided until the very end at Champion Stadium.
Sanibel got a terrific performance from pitcher Vince Hall, but it wasn't enough to beat the Pompano Beach Aqua Sox. Pompano Beach won the Champion Stadium contest, 3-2. Hall threw 7.0 innings of 4-hit ball for the losing team. Pompano Beach reliever Claire Steinmeyer picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Lucas Burke absorbed the loss.
Israel Maldonado was the walk-off hero for Pompano Beach. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Aqua Sox second baseman hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.
"This place was electric at the end," Maldonado said.
The win brings the Aqua Sox to 3-7, an awful start for a team that made the playoffs just last season.
